Learn how to set up your iOS device. Whether this is your first iOS device or you are replacing one, this article covers the process. In addition, it offers resources for you to learn more about your device's features.
- When you first turn on your iOS device, you will see a screen displaying Hello in different languages. Slide from left to right anywhere on this screen.*
Note: If you are blind or have low vision, you can quickly enable VoiceOver or Zoom.
- Select the language you wish your iOS device to use, and then the region in which you will be using your iOS device. This will affect things such as date, time, and contact formatting.
- Your iOS device requires an Internet connection to set up. Tap the name of your desired Wi-Fi network to begin device activation.
- Learn how to connect to a hidden Wi-Fi network, if necessary.
- Get help if you are having difficulty connecting to your Wi-Fi network.
- Your supervisor or help@realfloors.com can assist if your office wifi setup is different.
- Choose whether to enable Location Services.
- You can read more about location services (or tap About Location Services on the iOS setup screen):
- Location Services will be required for certain features of the Insight App to work.
- Set up your iPhone or iPad as a new device, from an iCloud backup, or from an iTunes backup.
- If restoring from backup, you can learn how to restore your content.
- Restore from Backup only needed on replacements for damaged/lost iPhone or iPad.
- Sign in with your Apple ID, which you've created previously, or create a free Apple ID.
- Alternatively, you can tap Skip This Step to sign in or create an Apple ID later.
- If you require assistance with your Apple ID, please see Apple ID Support for more information.
- If you are already using an Apple ID on an iPhone or iPad for work, use the same Apple ID on your new device.
- Otherwise, create an Apple ID using your professional email (i.e. @redifloors or @realfloors)
- Please be aware that any personal purchases will be your financial responsibility, and will become company property (i.e. apps, music, movies, etc.)
If necessary, learn how to create a free Apple ID:- Select your birthday, then tap Next:
- Enter your first and last name, then tap Next:
- You can then use either your current email address, or choose to get a free iCloud email address. Select the option you would like, then tap Next.
- Enter your current email address, or what you would like for your iCloud email, then tap Next.
- Enter what you would like for your password and tap Next.
- Enter your security questions and answers, tapping Next after each.
- If you like, enter an alternate email address to be used as a "rescue email". Tap Next after you have done so, or if you chose not to use one.
- Select whether you would like email updates and tap Next.
- Select your birthday, then tap Next:
- If you agree to the terms and conditions of your iOS device, tap Agree.
- If you would like to have the terms and conditions emailed for later review, tap Send by Email, confirm the email entered is correct, then tap Send.
- With an iCloud account set up on your device, you can use Find My iPhone.
- Set up iMessage and FaceTime on your device.
- With iPhone 5s, you can set up Touch ID.
- You should choose a passcode for your device. If you don't need a passcode, tap Don't Add Passcode.
- On iPhone 5s, if you choose to use Touch ID, you must enter a passcode.
- To make sure you did not make a mistake, you need to enter your passcode twice.
- If you chose a commonly used passcode, you will be asked to choose a more secure one.
- If you need to use a complex passcode, you can set in Settings > General > Passcode after completing this assistant.
- Set up iCloud Keychain.
- Choose whether to use Siri.

- Choose whether to send diagnostic and usage data to Apple automatically.
