If you have slow data updates or bad cell reception, you can check the strength of your signal
How to Access Your dB Signal:
For iPhone Users
- Go into Phone App
- Dial and Call *3001#12345#*
You'll enter Field Test Mode - Drag down your notifications bar and you will see your dB reading in the left-hand corner.
For Android Users - this varies by the Android version
- Access Settings
- Then General
- Go to About Phone
- Network or Status
- You should see your dB Value
In Android 6
Go to Settings (the “gear” icon), tap About phone(or Device) , tap Status , then tap SIM status (or SIM card status).
Now you understand how to read and find dB values on your phone. Walk around the house and find that place to get better signal.
Generally anything from -50 dB to -95 dB is considered a good working signal. From - 95 dB to -120 dB, that's the thin margin where you get spotty service to a complete dead zone.
